Heirloom Beginnings: Where My Love for Jewelry Took Root
I was enchanted as a kid when my grandmother showed me some beautiful jewelry pieces that had been passed down to her by her grandmother. Intriguing, isn’t it?
I was around 13 years old — wide-eyed and in awe. Fast forward 12 years: I wore a pair of gold bangles on my wedding day that were nearly 60 years old — precious and priceless. They’re still with me, waiting to be passed on to the next generation.
Those heirloom pieces ignited something deep within me — a lifelong love for design, storytelling, and the beauty of craftsmanship.
From Childhood Fascination to a Creative Calling
Instinctively, I’ve always been drawn to jewelry — curious about its design, joyfully wearing it, and carelessly flaunting it. That fascination led me to explore the world of handcrafted jewelry and design more deeply.
Meet the Founder — I’m Gazal Kothari
Oh hello! I’m Gazal Kothari, a jewelry designer and entrepreneur. My instinct, interest, and inclination toward handcrafted fashion jewelry led me to build Hyperbole Accessories
You might be wondering about the name. Hyperbole (pronounced hai·pur·buh·lee) means “an exaggeration of small things.” And that’s exactly what our jewelry stands for — elevating everyday moments with extraordinary detail.
The Vision Behind Hyperbole Accessories
Every piece, every motif, every design, and every detail from the House of Hyperbole Accessories is unique, timeless, and lustrous. Dainty yet statement-worthy, each piece adds just the right oomph to your daily style.
How It All Started — The Spark in College
Hyperbole was born out of an idea — and an illuminating one at that.
Back in my college days at NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) in 2013, I was researching the jewelry market and noticed something missing. The market felt saturated — limited in creativity, innovation, and freshness.
I secretly dreamed of blending my South Asian heritage with modern Western silhouettes, creating jewelry that combined durability, affordability, and design ingenuity.
That dream became my mission.
Design Roots and Early Inspiration
Studying Jewelry Design at NIFT taught me everything — from ideation to execution, from sketching to fine detailing.
In my fourth year, I designed a collection inspired by the Rio de Janeiro Carnival in Brazil. Using rare agate stones from Khambhat (Gujarat), I created bold, statement-making pieces. That collection received overwhelming love from both peers and the media — and it became the final push to start something of my own.
That’s how Hyperbole Accessories was born.
A Brand Worn by Icons & Loved Globally
Today, Hyperbole Accessories is adorned by icons like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, Taapsee Pannu, Janhvi Kapoor, Kajol, and Kiara Advani, and has even appeared on the hit Netflix show Never Have I Ever.
Our pieces have also been worn by Poorna Jagannathan and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, featured on Kate Hudson in the Netflix series Running Point, and seen on productions such as No Good Deed and Sweet Magnolias.
We even had the privilege of designing jewelry for Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy in Disney’s cult-favorite film Hocus Pocus 2 — a milestone that reminded me how far a dream born from heirloom inspiration can go.
Our jewelry is now present in 12+ countries, touching the lives of over 9,000 women worldwide.
With bases in India and California, Hyperbole continues to celebrate craftsmanship that transcends borders.
Our Belief — Life’s Too Short for Dull Jewelry
We believe life is too short to wear dull, repetitive jewelry. Born out of love, compassion, and creativity, Hyperbole Accessories makes statement jewelry that becomes the spark of your personality and style.
Our brand is built on three timeless pillars:
-
Credibility — we stand by authenticity and quality.
-
Sustainability — we value mindful production.
-
Creativity — we push boundaries with every design.
Recognition & Gratitude
In 2019, I was honored with the Young Woman Achiever’s Award by FICCI YFLO Organization — a recognition that reaffirmed the purpose behind my journey.
Looking Ahead
Through our designs, we aim to create pieces that are bold, ageless, and unapologetically Hyperbole — for women who express their individuality through jewelry.
